Dirty Politics for the Greater Good

Due process is defined as a fundamental constitutional guarantee that prohibits all levels of American government from arbitrarily depriving individuals of "life, liberty, or property" without fair legal procedures.

I’ve been dreaming about living on a mini-farm outside of Nashville, someday walking through peaceful paths holding hands with little twin grand-boys, one on each side. I’ve been posting reels with sweet, soft music under slow visuals of simplified homestead life. But, to hold on to dreams like mine in this country, I have to face the reality of our political system. I don’t love that we tolerate dirty politics— “for the greater good” in this country, but we are all human and sinful, so we do.

While the Immersive Magazine is designed to invite you out of the chaos and into a serene escape for a few minutes, I will touch on politics and culture for the sake of prayerfully preserving our life, liberty, and property. I will amplify a gentle call to action, encouraging the voice of the Commoner to wake up, pray up, rise up, and speak up.

In the blog this week, I want to broaden the definition of “due process.” Galatians 6:9 says, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." As a Christian political centrist, I’ve hoped that God was allowing this prolonged, loud era of partisan extremes to be merely a phase, designed to let both sides fully air their views before finally coming together in harmony. What a vision. Just imagine that with me for a prayerful minute. What would that look like in your mind?

My mind often drifts to the scene of Mike Pence at the joint session of congress counting the electoral votes in 2021. At the time, I was, and still remain, a reluctant Trump supporter. No matter what any Trump supporter wanted that day, I just kept saying out loud in my living room, “This is due process.” I believed that in due season, the Lord would work this out. I strongly believe in God’s timing in such matters.

No matter how big or small, or how terribly difficult, or even devastating a situation might be, if we can just hold onto the hope of both due process and due season, God will redeem all things. I’ve seen it over and over in my life. Some things we will never understand, and some people will never change, never stop doing truly evil things, but in our personal lives, The Lord will come as our redeemer.

Both due process and due season sometimes take years and years. This is true throughout the bible. In Jeremiah 29, the Lord tells the Israelites to plant gardens and settle in because they’re going to be in captivity for a while. God too employs a “due process,” and  I believe He is encouraging them to relax and trust the timing of His due process and His due season.

Hovering above our political due process, this much more important spiritual due process is actively at work. A large portion of American citizens are currently, actively repenting and rededicating this country back to God in acknowledgment, honor, and surrender to this spiritual due process. We haven't been waiting on Him. He has been waiting on us.

This coming Sunday, we are dedicating this country back to God. God is moving among His people in America in ways I’ve only dreamed of since I was a young girl. It is such a joy to be alive in this hour, and I celebrate all that is coming after this dedication.

Love to all,

Jill

P.S. Just a reminder to myself and those I love: voting is a crucial part of due process.
