FAMILY REUNION

IT’S A CARD GAME THE WHOLE FAMILY SHOULD PLAY!

This game works like a regular game of Gin - not Gin Rummy, but what my family simply called Gin.

Here's how it works:

FAMILY REUNION RULES

These are the additional rules Jill Riley has added to the simple game of Gin described below:

When a player discards any of the following cards, they must do the following:  

KING = Tell a powerful story about your family. 

QUEEN=Tell a sweet story about your family. 

JACK=Tell a story about your family that brings joy. 

JOKER=Tell a funny story about your family. 

ACE OF HEARTS=Tell a love story about your family. 

Invite other family members to watch and listen.

SHUFFLE AND CUT

Dealer shuffles the cards 2 or 3 times then sets the deck on the table. The other player cuts the deck (splits the deck in half and then places the top half on the bottom of the deck, which leaves the bottom half on top of the deck.) The dealer then picks up the cut deck and deals the cards.

OBJECT

The first player to fill his hand with any combo of books and runs lays their final discard down (face down) and says "Gin!" This earns the player 20 points plus the total of the unmatching cards left in the opponent's hand (cards that do not fit in any book or run within the hand.)

The first player to 100 wins.

CARD VALUES:

JOKERS are wild

KINGS are high

ACES are low

DEAL

Deal 11 cards to the other player and 10 cards to yourself. Set the remainder of the deck on the table between the two players. The other player discards his most unwanted card out of the 11. Discard face up next to the deck on the table.

PLAY

Each player takes turns either picking up the discarded card or drawing from the remainder deck until one of the players discards and says, "Gin!"
