I Went Silent

Common Ground: Something happened that silenced me.

At age 50, I committed the rest of my life to the messages and purposes of the overall Common Ground project. I have often felt unqualified to carry the messages and purposes. I personally come from a very broken and divided family, and the main message of the project is an encouragement to “return to love” and “reconcile family relationships” (where you can) because “what divides a family divides a nation.” So, when relationships are as rocky as they are in my life, it makes one wonder why I would feel “called” to write, produce, and release such a project. Trust me I’ve wondered a million times myself. Nevertheless, I set out last year to really finally put this project out there. You can check out some highlights from last year by visiting the website. In January of this year, I enrolled in L.A. Film school for a 3-year accelerated bachelor’s degree in Writing for Film and Television. I had big plans for the future of my great grandfather, Homer’s story and much more on the beauty of family.

AND THEN SOMETHING HAPPENED THAT STOPPED ME IN MY TRACKS AND RENDERED ME COMPLETELY SILENT, UNTIL NOW.

Over the next few months, through a prewritten weekly blog series, I’m going to rip my chest open and share my personal journey through this thing that happened.

Love to all,

Jill
